Musk has openly criticized Twitter and believes he can improve the social media company through private ownership.聽

Twitter showed some pushback to Musk鈥檚 unsolicited bid to buy the company and implemented a 鈥減oison pill,鈥� which would allow shareholders to buy additional shares at a discounted price if any entity or person acquires 15 percent or more of the company without board approval, in response to Musk鈥檚 bid nearly two weeks ago. But the board of directors ultimately voted unanimously to accept Musk’s offer.

The deal is expected to close later this year.
